Burmese Breed Advisory Committee meeting

The Burmese Cat Club was formed in 1955 and is one of the largest cat clubs in the UK with a national and international membership. We exist to safeguard the wellbeing and the purity of the breed, and to encourage a wider appreciation of the unique qualities of Burmese cats.

The history of the Burmese breed in the UK is described in detail in our publications.

Please visit our new History page which charts in some detail the development of the Burmese Breed. It covers from the 1930's in USA, through the period of the early imports into the UK and their establishment here in the 1950's, and progress through the 60's and 70's. Included are photographs of more than thirty
of the early cats which formed the foundation lines of the beautiful Burmese we know and enjoy today. We also include reference to the development of the breed in other Commonwealth Countries and Europe.

The Notice Page contains news of the Club Calendar for 2007, the Stud List for 2006/7 and a new Gift Aid scheme.

Please note that information on cats for Rehoming and those Lost & Found can be accessed directly by clicking on the appropriate buttons on the home page.

Members are invited to submit their favourite photographs for publication on the Members Picture Page for a minimum of one month in return for a donation of £10 to the Benevolent Fund. Please e-mail pictures in JPEG format to Marcia Owen
